Winter hikes
Last Monday as well as today we took advantage of the good weather and went hiking in the Jura area - the Solothurn and Bernese Jura, to be precise. Today was the more touristy version, where we just decided to walk up to the Weissenstein (ca. 600m of height difference, the top being at something over 1200m), enjoy the view on the Bernese Alps while lunching and then taking the very old-school cable car down again. There were snowy as well as icy patches, so I was glad about wearing proper hiking boots.
Last Monday was surprisingly spectacular - no one on the road of course, with the completely surprising snow fields at the top of Romontberg - all in all something over 3 hours, not including a picnic lunch in the middle of some beautiful snow fields.
I’m really enjoying these small hikes and hope we’ll get around to many more before the baby comes!
